The
stylistic angel
pattern is a practical and simple way to
stitch and secure the layers of the Angel Blanket together.
The size of the pattern is adaptable to the
blanket it is stitched on to.
However
the centre 'body' of the pattern is slightly narrower than the points
of the
two side 'wings'.
The angel quilting pattern is always sewn with white
thread,
and using zigzag sewing machine stitching.
The
Angel's head is
created from two thickness of white
sheeting or other white material.
The
size is that of an Australian 50 cent coin, or approx 3-3½ cm
round.
The 50 cent coin is placed on the
material,
held in place with your thumb and cut around with scissors.
These two layers are then caught into the
zigzag stitching at a centre 'point' when stitching the pattern on to
the
blanket.
The head is then
blanket-stitched around by hand.

The pattern itself is marked on the blanket using
tailor's
chalk.
The layers are then pinned
together along this line and zigzag stitched to hold the layers
together.
This
particular pattern
allows the centre of the blanket to
wrap around the body with air pocket layers at the back to trap and
contain as
much of the warmth generated from the body as possible.
The wing pieces then do the same for the
front of the body.

The angel pattern also holds a great deal of
spiritual
symbolism.

It is a version of an infinity pattern.
Having
no beginning or end, it has forever
flowing energy.
It also holds the
potential to take in more and become stronger.

For many people who are finding life challenging, an
angel
signifies God's love and protection.
This
support, in itself, can help them rediscover
and regain their own
sense of value, strength and inner energy - and start to use it.

An angel reminds you that you have not yet completed
the
wonderful experiences and achievements God placed you on earth to
fulfil for
yourself and for the rest of humanity, and that you retain within you
forever,
the power and strength to achieve them.

And most importantly, your angel will always be
there with
you no matter how difficult or hard your journey is.
